Adiya, 15, joined The Nucleo Project two years ago and since then she has been playing the cello.
What do you love the most about the cello?
I love the deep, rich sound the cello produces.
What does The Nucleo Project mean in your life?
The Nucleo is a major part of my life. Learning to play the cello has enabled me to express my feelings in ways I could not have verbally. The Nucleo unites me with others from different cultures and backgrounds through music.
What is the most important thing you’ve learnt from your teacher?
Lucy (Maguire) has taught me to be determined and always encourages me to do well and feel the music. Lucy fuels my desire to learn. At times I feel as though I am not capable of learning certain pieces, but the words Lucy speaks help me feel empowered, as though I’m able to do anything.
